Bangladesh environment network

The Bangladesh Environment Network (BEN) is a global network of individuals and organizations committed to protecting and improving the environment in Bangladesh. Established in 1998, BEN operates with the goal of raising awareness about environmental issues, promoting sustainable development, and influencing policies to address environmental challenges in Bangladesh. The organization connects Bangladeshi citizens, experts, and environmental advocates both within the country and abroad to facilitate knowledge sharing and advocacy efforts.

BEN focuses on various environmental concerns, such as:

1. Air and water pollution Addressing the pollution of rivers, lakes, and air, particularly in urban areas like Dhaka.

2. Deforestation Promoting reforestation and sustainable management of forests.

3. Climate change Raising awareness about Bangladesh’s vulnerability to climate change, including rising sea levels and increased frequency of extreme weather events.

4. Sustainable development  Advocating for policies that support environmentally sustainable development, including renewable energy, waste management, and Eco-friendly urban planning.

BEN organizes conferences, workshops, and publications to engage citizens and policymakers, and to encourage public participation in environmental protection efforts. Its work is largely supported by volunteers, particularly from the Bangladeshi diaspora, who bring expertise and resources to assist in environmental advocacy.
